International Opportunities

Strike New Ground

As Gilbane continues to expand our international presence with once in a lifetime projects, we are always looking for entrepreneurial people looking to experience a new culture. Here’s a look at some of our exciting upcoming international projects.

Gilbane is constructing a $31.7 million project in Guam to renovate four housing structures for enlisted sailors by converting and altering multiple buildings. The project will convert the current double-occupancy permanent party housing units and will renovate common areas such as multipurpose spaces, shared kitchens, vending areas, shared laundries, and other miscellaneous support spaces. This project will also include hazardous materials abatement, removal of contaminated soil, and MEC/UXO clearance.

Guam Apra HarborAnother current Gilbane project is the $20 million Design-Build project in Guam’s Apra Harbor involving the design and construction of support facilities for three U.S. Coast Guard, Sentinel Class, Fast Response Cutter (FRC) vessels. Gilbane will provide upgrades to Victor Wharf consisting of new fenders for the three FRC ships and new shore ties for power and telecommunications. It also includes construction of a new Maintenance and Weapons Division/FRC support building, personnel parking lot, and hazmat storage building.

Gilbane’s Munitions Storage Area project in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia entails the construction of twelve Earth Covered Magazines at Prince Sultan Air Base and five EMC’s at the King Khalid Air Base, including all related infrastructure. Gilbane is responsible for permitting, construction, construction management, quality control, site safety and health submittals, scheduling, inspection and testing, construction facilities and temporary controls, environmental protection, construction quality control, recording of (As-Built) drawings, and project closeout.

Candidates who are flexible and able to travel to a job site in a foreign country for months at a time, looking to challenge themselves, expand their world view, and immerse themselves in innovative and awe-inspiring projects will thrive in their work on our international projects.

“I grew up in Taiwan, so I knew what it meant to work outside of the United States. Ever since leaving Taiwan, I’ve always told myself that if there is ever an opportunity for me to work internationally I was going to do it. Part of my decision to join Gilbane was knowing that they had international work and they were open to employees relocation to learn and have different experiences outside of the U.S.”

Given Gilbane’s work across the country and around the world, some of our team members embark on career journeys that take them to new places.

In December 2022, Steven Wu started an exciting new adventure, moving from our New York City office to join our team in Japan! Steven is a superintendent who just knew he had to seize the opportunity to move internationally with Gilbane.

We Want to Expand Our Family

While English may not be a universal language on all of our foreign job sites, our family culture, quality work, integrity, and dedication to excellence transcend the language barrier. When we take on an international project, we aren’t just looking to expand our markets. We are looking to share our values with these new communities.

Gilbane volunteers
A group of Gilbane volunteers recently braved the cold and the rain to take over 60 children (ages ranging from 2 – 18) from the Seibi Home orphanage in Tokyo to Tokyo Disney. This is the third time over the past 6 years Gilbane in Japan has been able to take many of these kids to Disney and it is very rewarding to accompany them and bring smiles to their faces.

We’re looking to add you as a part of our family. If you share our values, and have a global mindset, consider applying to some of our international projects.  Learn more about career opportunities at Gilbane.
