At Gilbane, our wellness program is focused on supporting employees’ total wellbeing: occupational safety, mental/emotional wellness, financial wellbeing and physical wellness. Broadening our focus helps our employees achieve and maintain their best life at work and at home with their family and/or friends.
Safety/Occupational Wellness
Caring is one of Gilbane’s core values and is reiterated through our Gilbane Cares philosophy, which is built on the belief that everyone deserves a safe, healthy, and secure work environment. Wellness and safety are paired with the recognition that the health of our employees impacts their ability to remain safe and injury free at work.
As part of our culture at Gilbane, we start off every meeting with a Gilbane Cares moment. Each moment is a helpful tip or reminder about being safe at work and at home. We also host monthly company-wide safety calls, with topics ranging from heat-stress awareness on jobs sites to tips on how to avoid distracted driving.
Mental/Emotional Wellness
With the prevalence of opioid abuse and depression in the industry, Gilbane is focused on the mental and emotional wellbeing of our employees and trade contractors. We offer the following to our domestic employees to reduce barriers and stigma to behavioral health treatment:
- Live Well program, a comprehensive employee assistance program that provides counseling and support for all kinds of challenges you face in life
- Behavioral health co-pays are the same as primary care visits
- Extensive training to employees for managing stress/anxiety/depression and recognizing mental health issues in the workplace
- Mindfulness and stress reduction programs
We also deliver training to recognize issues like depression and drug abuse, and stock
“Naloxone Rescue Kits” to provide life-saving aid in the event a worker experiences an opioid overdose
Financial Wellbeing
At Gilbane we recognize that financial stability is critical to the overall wellbeing of our employees and their families. We cover an array of financial support services including retirement support, financial coaching, robust insurance coverage, education, and more.

Physical Wellbeing
Gilbane encourages physical fitness. From participating in community road races, charity walks, stair climbs and more, Gilbane sponsors activities that promote team building and physical fitness. We also have companywide and peer fitness challenges throughout the year.
Our fitness reward program allows employees to receive 50% of their eligible fitness expenses up to $300 per calendar year. Eligible expenses include gym/health club membership, fitness equipment, personal trainer, workout videos, and fitness classes.
We also offer free services to help people stay healthy including: biometric screening (know your numbers), smoking cessation coaching, health coaching, flu shots, diabetes management program (including free meter and testing supplies), and a variety of training on topics like knowing risks for heart conditions.
