Building Green and Delivering on our Sustainability Commitment
Managing our company in a sustainable way goes beyond the realm of environmental impact; it also means being responsible for how we operate our office and jobsites, implement safe practices and recognize how the projects we build impact the environments and communities in which we work, live and play.
We are partnering with our clients on solutions to reduce or eliminate waste, minimize impacts to the climate, promote sustainable outcomes and advance environmental changes to safeguard the environment now and for future generations. Our corporate Sustainability Council is committed to environmental responsibility and advancing sustainable initiatives. The backbone of these initiatives is our people; we emphasize continuous improvement to ensure we remain an industry leader. Gilbane’s Sustainability Council actively interfaces with the U.S. Green Building Council® and Green Building Certification Institute to successfully work toward achieving the necessary construction credits for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) certifications.
Gilbane teams proactively contribute to the integrated design process on USGBC projects by providing guidance on recycling, local sourcing, specifying recycled materials, waste management plans, indoor air quality and innovative MEP systems. The focus is on working collaboratively with project stakeholders to further the design and confirm the value of each decision through life-cycle cost and operational analyses, as well as environmental benefits.
We embrace state-of-the-art technologies, not just because it is good for the community or because it increases our productivity. We embrace them because ultimately it is about caring for the planet we all share.
