Code of Conduct

Gilbane has an ethics program that guides our people, joint venture partners, suppliers, and subcontractor relationships. We believe our continued success is built on an unwavering commitment to high standards of business conduct. Suppliers of goods, materials, or services to Gilbane are expected to adhere to these same standards and principles or their equivalent. Our mutual success and strong continuing business relationships depend on that shared commitment. This includes compliance with all applicable laws and regulations at all times in work performance.

Notice to suppliers: fraudulent purchase order email activity

Gilbane Supply Chain would like to alert our supplier community to what appears to be an ongoing and active fraud scam. Scammers are falsely representing purchase orders and requests for product quotations in what appear to be email requests originating from Gilbane Building Company, but in fact are not. While we cannot prevent this illegal activity, we are actively working to investigate these fraudulent communications and are taking additional measures to prevent them from occurring.

Here are some common indicators that may help you identify fraudulent emails and avoid becoming a financial victim of these scams:

• The email message is poorly written with misspellings and awkward sentence structure.
• The sender’s email address or website link are look-alikes or spoofed to mimic Gilbane Building Company email address structure.
  • Fraudulent email address examples:
    • anyname@gilbaneconstruction.com
    • anyname@gilbaneconstructions.com
    • anyname@gilbanegc.com
  • The front part of the above email addresses can be a fake person’s name, “procurement”, “purchasing”, “supply chain”, or any name for that matter.
• The sender’s source or return email address does not end in @gilbaneco.com (e.g. purchasing@gilbaneco.usa.com).
• Emails may also be spoofed in the sender’s address field to appear with an email suffix of @gilbaneco.com. However, when hovering the cursor over the email sender’s field, a different email address appears.  Gilbane recommends always verifying the source of an email by hovering over the email address to ensure it ends with the expected email address.
• The message requests shipment/delivery of products to non-Gilbane office or site location addresses or states that they will send a carrier to pick up the shipment.
• The message may include an attachment that is designed to look like a purchase order, may include a logo or other graphic, and a signature that may look legitimate.

If you receive a suspected fraudulent communication, Gilbane recommends reporting it to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC).

If you are the victim of a fraud, Gilbane strongly urges reporting the incident to the FTC or the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) using the following resources:

If you receive a suspicious email that appears to be from Gilbane Building Company, you may contact our Supply Chain department at supplychain@gilbaneco.com to verify its legitimacy before responding to the email or filling the order.  You may also contact the Supply Chain department by phone, Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Eastern Time at 401-456-5588.

When in doubt about the legitimacy of a message, do not click on any of the links in the message, and do not take any action to fulfill the order. We emphasize reporting the attempted fraud to the authorities as listed above and blocking or ignoring further communications with these threat agents.
