In partnership with C.D. Smith, Gilbane provided construction management at-risk services for the Baird Center Expansion. The expansion was a cutting-edge effort that set new industry standards, featuring dynamic design elements unique within the convention industry. It met rigorous environmental requirements, and its contractor qualifications emphasized community impact and engagement, delivering meaningful benefits to the local economy..
Project Overview
- Added 300,000 SF to the original space, approximately doubling the size of the convention center
- Added 24 new meeting rooms, 400 indoor parking spaces, six loading docks, and an executive kitchen
- Features a fourth-floor ballroom with space for 2,000 guests
- In addition to the expansion, the project also included a full renovation of the existing convention center
- Achieved LEED Gold certification
