The opportunity

The University of New Hampshire selected Gilbane to provide construction management services for this multi-phase project, which included a new 360-bed residence hall and a new 70,000-square-foot dining and conference facility.

The solution

The five-story Mills Hall Residence offers suite-style student living. The building is fully wired to meet the technology needs of today’s students, including a designated Internet line for each student, as well as cable television hook-ups in every room. The new residence hall is fully air-conditioned and features significant study/lounge space. The residence hall was constructed amidst other campus residences, including a residence within only 10 yards of the job site. We worked closely with the University to develop a site safety plan, including guidance of traffic-flow around the site to ensure the safety of students and campus visitors.

At the new Holloway Commons Dining and Conference Facility, students, faculty and visitors enjoy a new air-conditioned facility with 70,000 square feet of dining space for up to 850 people. Marche-style dining offers a variety of options, including brick oven pizza, Euro kitchen, Asian station, delicatessen, salad bar, and grill. The facility includes versatile meeting and conference facilities with theater-style seating for up to 450, or dinner- or meeting-style seating for up to 300. Conference facilities are Internet-accessible.
