Volusia County Public Schools- Turie T. Small Elementary School
New high-performance elementary school is underway
Gilbane was selected to provide CM at-Risk services to complete the new construction of a replacement elementary school containing approximately 850 student stations. The school was built on a separate greenfield parcel adjacent to the middle school and directly behind the current Turie T. Small Elementary. This project had significant involvement of minority and women-owned business enterprises (M/WBE).
Project Overview
- Turie T. Small Elementary School serves as a remarkable community revitalization initiative, offering not only exceptional educational facilities but also recreational spaces, medical and dental services, social services, and adult education programs
- The school includes administration offices, a cafeteria, a kitchen, a media center, mechanical rooms, and classroom spaces
- The existing building underwent significant renovations and be repurposed as a public space for the local community, further enhancing the area’s amenities
- A new parent drop-off/pick-up loop with parking, a bus loop with parking, stormwater retention, a physical education pavilion, and playgrounds are part of the overall site plan
