School District of Osceola County NeoCity Academy STEM High School
Florida’s first net-zero K-12 school
Gilbane served as construction manager at-risk services for the construction of a high performance, solar ready STEM high school to achieve zero energy. This landmark project is the first zero energy K-12 facility in the State of Florida.
Project Overview
- The new 45,000-SF facility is a three-story building and a central energy plant on a five-acre site
- The energy management system of the building includes a two-way electric service meter, which allows for monitoring the building’s energy usage and the tracking of energy produced by the solar panels
Through a joint effort with Little Diversified, a full life-cycle analysis was conducted and determined that this new facility will save over $115,000 per year in energy costs, and can save over $3.2 million over the course of 20 years.
