New clinical testing facility lowers costs through automation and operational flow efficiencies
Gilbane provided construction management services for the construction of a new state-of-the-art two-story, wet laboratory and a five-story, parking structure. The flagship facility will service the company’s east region, from New York to Virginia and Maryland, as part of its centralization strategy to consolidate testing in the State of New Jersey.
Project Overview
- Part of the New Jersey Economic Development Authority’s Grow New Jersey program
- One of the largest automated specimen testing facility performing about 40 million routine diagnostic test and employing more than 1,100 personnel
- The main laboratory floor for clinical hematology houses two high-throughput automation lines and four high-volume storage units which can hold up to 300,000 samples each
- Design accounts for future growth with the ability to expand the main automation floor by 20,000 SF
