Pfizer Modular Aseptic Processing (MAP) Facility
Delivering the largest and most advanced manufacturing facility in Pfizer’s network
Gilbane provided construction management services for global pharmaceutical-industry leader Pfizer on one of the world’s most technically advanced sterile injectable pharmaceutical production facilities, known as Modular Aseptic Processing (MAP), in Portage. This new 420,000 SF life sciences manufacturing facility includes space for the installation of independent aseptic processing modules with flexibility for future expansion. This expansion project will add approximately 450 new jobs in Kalamazoo County, and Pfizer projects a total investment of $1.1B in Kalamazoo through 2024.
Project Overview
- New 420,000 SF Modular Aseptic Processing (MAP) facility involving manufacturing space for the installation of independent aseptic processing modules with the potential to add additional modules at a later date, a full basement, upper mezzanine, and walkable ceiling for support equipment
- The MAP design will provide utility distribution to serve a fully functional MAP facility and reasonable future expansion leveraging existing utility capacity while planning for reliable supply
- LEED Gold certification pursued to create a facility that embraces sustainability and promotes an innovative and healthy atmosphere
