Public-private partnership (P3) leads to fast-track delivery of schools

Hyattsville Middle School is part of the innovative $450 million, 1 million-SF, six-school P3 delivery program for Prince George’s County Public Schools involving the design, permitting, construction, financing, and on-going building maintenance for six schools for a term of 30 years. Through a design-build, fast-track delivery, this new 163,000-SF, four-story middle school prototype serves students in grades 6-8.

Project Overview

Administrative offices, security, a media center, an indoor gymnasium and locker rooms, a performance stage and art rooms, a cafeteria and servery, music, band, and dance rooms, loading dock and mechanical/electrical rooms on ground floor
Second story houses classrooms, science and computer labs for sixth grade, while third and fourth floors support seventh and eighth-grade academic programs
Also includes new bus and car entryways, a parking lot, new landscaping, and multi-purpose athletic fields
Gilbane Transition Planning & Management, a division within Gilbane Building Company, was selected to provide transition planning and management services for the furniture, fixtures and equipment and move management requirements
