New recreation and wellness center prioritizes well-being for students
Gilbane provided construction management services for the new state-of-the-art student health and wellness center, located within the west portion of the South Village on the main campus of Florida Gulf Coast University. Also included in the project scope of work was site work and site utilities.
Project Overview
- Gilbane provided construction management services for the new state-of-the-art student health and wellness center
- The two-story building featured a double gymnasium, group fitness room, strength and fitness room, cardio deck, observation concourse, administrative suite, exterior event plaza, and exterior fitness area
- The approximately 46,000-SF facility also featured academic classrooms for the human performance program
- Achieved LEED® Silver Certification
The Gilbane team developed a phased GMP approach so the site work could begin while the building’s details and GMP could be finalized. This allowed for a two-month improvement in the start of the project.
