Project Overview

  • Pedestrian mall with a 2,200-foot long greenway linking the heart of Cleveland’s University Circle with local surrounding neighborhoods
  • The project consisted of major site improvements and soil relocation and a significant urban greening effort
  • 150 mature trees were preserved to reduce stress from construction and more than 275 new trees were planted
  • Wi-fi extends across the greenway and 360-degree cameras and emergency phones added for security
  • The public green space provides a place for outdoor art installations, free public concerts and lectures, farmers markets, and other community events

The Nord Family Greenway project served as a catalyst for urban revitalization and community development in the city of Cleveland. The new design has created an open, public green space in the heart of a dense, urban district.
