Project Overview

  • The project included a partial renovation of the existing facility
  • The project also included the construction of a two-court gym, second-level multi-activity gym, strength training and fitness areas, running track, office and therapy space and lounge area
  • Student demand and input informed the project design

During the preconstruction phase, Gilbane evaluated the building that was designed as a post-tension concrete structure for the first floor and structural steel for the second floor and made a recommendation to convert the building to all-steel. Through these efforts, Gilbane saved the client $300,000 in trade costs and shaved two months from the schedule, and was able to eliminate additional general conditions costs.
