Ascension St. Vincent’s Southside Hospital, Exterior Façade Restoration
Façade restoration and building envelope improvements performed throughout active hospital campus
Gilbane provided construction management services for recladding of the entire building envelope at St. Vincent’s Southside Hospital due to damage incurred by Hurricane Matthew. During the height of the pandemic, Gilbane worked on this occupied healthcare campus, including construction upgrades in the ICU, NICU, and OR, keeping the hospital operational throughout.
Project Overview
- Demolition of 148,500-SF of existing precast skin replaced with an insulated metal panel system over a new vapor barrier and all new hurricane-rated windows and HVAC louvers
- Interior modifications at each window opening and envelope improvements at two medical office buildings on campus
- Temporary utility shutdowns and relocations
- Coordination with clinical and facilities staff as well as a state agency, city agencies having jurisdiction, and third-party building envelope oversight
- Additional scope to replace all existing windows to current building code and standards
“Gilbane exceeded our expectations, and we have maintained a strong relationship since. I highly recommend Gilbane for any acute care project requiring creativity, attention to detail, and patient-first caring.”
