Gilbane developed a vibrant student housing option for Syracuse University’s 22,000+ students—more than half of whom live out of state—as a strategy to address and alleviate critical housing shortages. The Laurel transformed a surface parking lot on a 1.63-acre site just outside campus into attractive, purpose-built student housing conveniently near shopping, restaurants, and Marshall Street, the primary social destination for students.
Project Overview
- Six-story, 190-unit, 466-bed community designed for Syracuse University students
- Fully furnished apartments with full-sized washer/dryer, stainless steel ENERGY STAR kitchen appliances, quartz kitchen countertops, and flatscreen TVs
- Amenities include a fitness center, a clubroom, study rooms, a study lounge, an outdoor courtyard with BBQ grilling areas, hammocks, a large outdoor TV, and games
- Rooftop terrace with outdoor TV, seating, and a fire pit
- On-site parking provided at grade (39 spaces) and in the secure underground garage (152 spaces)
