Healthcare campus remains safely operational during large-scale demolition

Gilbane provided construction management services for the abatement and demolition of the Jeannette District Memorial Hospital, situated in the middle of a highly visible residential area. Throughout the demolition, an existing medical office building and emergency paramedic station remained operational on the healthcare campus. The site was restored to green space, along with supplemental parking for the medical office building.

The demolition/abatement of the hospital was conducted in a very conscientious manner. Before commencing demolition, Gilbane’s Area Manager, the city’s Mayor, and an Excela Health representative went door to door to talk to local neighbors, delivering newsletters regarding the demolition process. The project team continued to relay updates to the community through project completion.
