Cleveland Guardians, Progressive Field Improvements

Design-build services included renovations and new construction at the Guardian’s ballpark

Gilbane’s design-build services included the removal of upper deck seating and supporting structures in right field and the demolition and removal of all associated buildings and utilities that support concessions, novelties and restrooms within the area. The project also included redesign of the stadium’s Gate C entrance, construction of a new two-story indoor-outdoor bar, renovation of the two-story Kid’s Clubhouse, and construction of new stacked bullpen’s in center field.

Project Overview

  • Converted 7,000 little-used seats and suites into new gathering areas
  • A redesign of Gate C off East Ninth Street connects the street to the stadium
  • New social spaces incorporate multiple neighborhood-themes filled with food and drinks from Ohio City, Little Italy, Tremont, and other popular local communities
  • The project also included the expansion of the family-friendly play zone, Cleveland Guardians Kids Clubhouse to two levels, and renovation of the Kids Clubhouse mezzanine
  • Both the home and visitor bullpens were moved to center field, creating a section of exclusive seats for fans who want an up-close and personal view of the bullpen in action

Our team’s value engineering efforts for the right field improvements began at the conceptual stage of the project and incorporated several strategies to benefit the overall project budget and schedule.
