The 2021-2022 school year is beginning and many students may be thinking about launching their career. Gilbane is looking for passionate building professionals and may very well be visiting a career fair at a campus near you. Whether you are an intern or a recent graduate, here is what we want to know about you and why: your education, work experience, achievements, and more!

Core Values and Family Culture

What makes our company unique, is not just our business accomplishments, but our people. We have been a family business for 150 years and every employee is a part of the Gilbane Family. Since culture is such an important part of our Gilbane workplace, we look for individuals who share our core values: integrity, toughmindedness, teamwork, dedication to excellence, loyalty, discipline, caring, and entrepreneurship. We practice our values in our work and pride ourselves on a culture where these values are celebrated.

We look for candidates who are excited by continuous learning and professional development. Transferable skills which highlight the individual’s potential to be an asset to the company are highly valued. We are committed to achieving growth that allows us to enhance value to clients and industry partners, and provide opportunities for our people. Gilbane strives for an inclusive and diverse workforce, making our Gilbane Cares philosophy at the forefront of everything we do. It is built on the belief that everyone- our employees, clients, partners, and the public- deserves a safe, healthy, and secure work environment. With this philosophy, we work together to create an inclusive work culture, environment, and business model that leverages the capabilities of our diverse employee population. Employees are encouraged to speak up and create a space for open discussion on a day-to-day basis.

Resume Best Practices

At Gilbane we are looking for passionate building professionals and value a well-written resume.  A resume is a medium for advertising yourself, therefore it is important that the resume reflect who you are and your professional experiences. We recommend addressing key selection criteria and core skills for the role you’re applying for. Accurate information including dates of employment, education completed, job titles and skills possessed in each role is important in demonstrating growth as a professional. A resume should be visually appealing, neat, organized, and consistent.

Here are some quick tips when applying:

  • Current and updated dates
  • Accurate grammar and line spacing
  • A brief, but well-expressed objective/summary at the top of your resume
  • Education/certifications near the top of the resume
  • The skills you list are relevant to the position you are applying for
  • Highlight job achievements
  • Name, address, email, phone numbers, and LinkedIn profile link on the resume
  • Project lists (if applicable)
    • Including, project name (if possible), value of the project, size, and scope of responsibilities
