Nemours Estate New Collection Storage Facility
Nemours Foundation’s historic artifacts preserved in specialized facility
The team partnered with Nemours Estate and Nemours Children’s Hospital to reduce disruption to ongoing operations and coordinated with the Hospital and Delaware National Guard to minimize impact to emergency preparedness. Special equipment was installed to ensure the safety of their collections from environmental challenges like UV light, fire, and temperature changes.
Project Overview
- Met strict design and coordination standards so that the new structure would visually align with the entire campus
- Because of the breadth of storage types needed, we had to coordinate with three manufacturers to source specialized storage for the facility’s artifacts
- Includes an automatic fire alarm system connected to a generator to monitor for alarms and maintain proper climate levels within the space for the historical artifacts
The collections had particular space condition requirements in terms of temperature and relative humidity that had to be maintained on a 24/7 basis, year-round (72 deg F ± 2 deg F, 50% RH ± 5%).
