TPM manages relocation of National Weather Service meteorological equipment

TPM managed the relocation of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) National Logistics Support Center (NLSC) and National Reconditioning Center (NRC) from the Bannister Federal Complex. TPM reviewed drawings and provided transition planning insight throughout the design phase and worked onsite with the client and general contractor during construction to monitor building activities, ensuring the project remained on schedule and under budget.

Project Overview

  • The interdependent NLSC and NRC units support the operation of all NOAA National Weather Service meteorological equipment
  • Prior to final site selection, Gilbane TPM worked with the client to develop the transition plan, relocation budget, move vendor RFP, and a detailed move plan for all warehouse, office, and workshop spaces
  • Following a temporary hold on the project, Gilbane TPM was re-engaged by the client to provide design phase review, construction management oversight, and comprehensive relocation management services for the new facility
  • The detailed relocation plans, originally developed three years prior to the actual moves, were revised for current conditions, and successfully implemented with no operational downtime over the course of only seven weeks
