Historic courthouse renovated in downtown Medina

Gilbane provided construction management services for the expansion and renovation of the Medina County courthouse. Originally built in 1841, the current county courthouse is on the National Register of Historic Places and is situated on the square in downtown Medina. The new facility is safer and more efficient with ample space to serve the citizens of Medina County for years to come.

Project Overview

  • The program included a new 86,000 SF, four-story addition that is connected to the existing 1841 and 1969 courthouses
  • Five courtrooms were added to the building with holding cells, offices, and record review rooms
  • All paneling at judge benches and transaction windows is level three bulletproof, thick enough to stop a 9mm bullet
  • 21,000 SF of renovations to the 1841 courthouse will be completed as well to achieve modern-day standards along with technology upgrades
  • The original building remained in use daily throughout construction
