Bristol Aggie furthers its reach with highly sustainable, science-focused campus expansion

Gilbane provided construction management services for Bristol County Agricultural High School’s expansion and renovation. This three-phase project added approximately 196,000-SF to the campus footprint and increased capacity from 450 to 600 students. The scope included the addition of two new buildings; the Student Commons and the Center for Science and the Environment.

Project Overview

  • New construction included the new 74,000-SF Center of Science and Environment (CSE) that houses multiple programs, including natural resource management, environmental science, and technology), and the small animal facility
  • The new Student Commons is the centerpiece of the sprawling campus, providing students with a place to gather and collaborate, it also houses the cafeteria and media center
  • A new 60-cow robotic dairy barn was constructed to include state-of-the-art machinery, as well as an attached observation lab and classroom for the students to observe the cows and milking process
  • Four other buildings underwent renovations, including Gilbert Hall and the agricultural mechanics building, as well as the construction of a pedestrian spine that spans the entire campus, providing continuity and accessibility between vocational and academic programs
