Renovating Yokota Air Base for over a decade
Gilbane completed a $27 million task order under our U.S. Air Force Worldwide Engineering and Construction (WE&C) contract to perform a full range of construction and engineering activities necessary to repair the Air Passenger Terminal at Yokota Air Base, Japan. The repairs included Force Protection upgrades to meet anti-terrorism/force protection (AT/FP) criteria and structural upgrades to meet code requirements.
Project Overview
- Repair of the existing air passenger terminal’s architectural, mechanical, plumbing, and electrical systems by replacing inefficient/unreliable materials and equipment
- Reconfigure the floor plan and replace interior partitions, ceilings, flooring, and windows
- Construction of a new covered entryway and abandonment and/or removal of the facility’s fuel oil underground storage tank
