In keeping with our core value of caring, Gilbane is committed to sustainability and making a positive impact on the environment now, and for generations to come.
Gilbane has established an in-house Sustainability Council to promote green construction and business practices company-wide. The Council provides nationally- and locally-based resources to employees working on a project with Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) targets. Additionally, Gilbane’s commitment is supported by the provision of comprehensive resources for our employees to stay updated with sustainable advances and new technologies. To date, 340 of our people are LEED Accredited Professionals, supporting our Platinum membership to the U.S. Green Building Council® (USGBC).
Our commitment to sustainability is underpinned by our corporate social responsibility and core values. In our offices and on our projects, we are dedicated to eliminating waste, reducing pollution, promoting recycling, utilizing repurposed materials and increasing energy efficiency to reduce our carbon footprint. In 2017, 331 Gilbane projects across the nation recycled 93% of project waste for a total of 399,545 tons of waste diverted from landfills. Gilbane has worked on 6 Zero Energy education projects and practices Sustainability on each project by diverting construction waste.
