Fast-track construction completed in under 8 months

width= BOSTON, MA (June 13, 2019) – The Boston office of Gilbane Building Company provided construction management services for PTC’s 250,000 SF, nine-floor global headquarters, that now serves as an innovation showcase in Boston’s Seaport District. To complete this fast-track construction project in seven and a half months, Gilbane Boston managed trade partners working multiple shifts, seven days a week, for most of the project’s duration.

“We were honored to play a pivotal role in the completion of PTC’s landmark headquarters that sets such a high bar for workplace innovation and collaboration,” said Mike O’Brien, head of Gilbane’s Boston office. “This project exemplifies Gilbane’s ability to manage a highly productive construction team to meet aggressive deadlines, while keeping a laser focus on quality and safety.”

An innovator in software product design, IoT, and Augmented Reality (AR), PTC leveraged the opportunity to make its headquarters a global model for excellence in the use of workplace technology. Among the project’s many custom details are true curved glass, a statement curved staircase, and complex lighting and AV systems, all coordinated through extensive use of virtual design and construction. The headquarters features a Corporate Experience Center (CXC), which serves as an interactive showcase for PTC’s innovative technology; a landscaped roof deck width=with outdoor seating; café; executive suite level; meeting-conference rooms; and general office space. On the top floor of PTC’s new global headquarters, a large collaborative space called “The Common” provides a variety of seating for both employees and customers.

“We entrusted Gilbane and the entire project team with bringing to life PTC’s vision for a headquarters that represents the intersection of transformative technology and workplace design and couldn’t be happier to call this space our new home,” said John Civello, Vice President of Corporate Real Estate and Workplace at PTC. “Gilbane’s collaborative approach to making this vision a reality and leading a construction team that handled the expected and unexpected with great skill, creativity, and agility, helped to ensure that our employees thrive in this truly remarkable space.”

Cresa, the world’s largest tenant-only commercial real estate firm, assembled the project team which also included Margulies Perruzzi Architects and Bala Consulting Engineers.
