Gilbane Development Company to add more off-campus student housing options
for Iowa State University Students in Ames

University Towers to be modernized; new 291-bed facility to be constructed at corner of Chamberlain Street and Lynn Avenue

AMES, IA. – (May 18, 2015) – Students at Iowa State University will soon have additional housing options across the street from the campus in the Campustown enclave.

The three Gilbane Development Company-owned properties – 23Twenty Lincoln, University Towers, and The Edge – will be offered under one brand to be known as “BlockONE”

Gilbane Development Company will refurbish and update the interiors to add modern student-oriented amenities at University Towers, located on 111 Lynn Avenue, which is adjacent to their current development at 23Twenty Lincoln.

In addition, a new 6-story building, to be known as “The Edge”, will be constructed over the existing University Towers parking lot at the rear.  This will add about 290 brand new beds in two, three and four-bedroom fully furnished apartment units. Upon completion of the renovations and construction of both existing and new buildings respectively, the property will have a total of about 470 beds with about 5,300 square feet of retail space on the ground floor along Chamberlain Street.

Similar to 23Twenty Lincoln, which is scheduled to complete in August 2015, residents will enjoy modern amenities such as a 24-hour fitness center with tanning room, social lounges, multiple study rooms, computer lounges with printing area and coffee bar, Club Rooms with HDTVs and game tables to be featured in both existing and new buildings.  The new courtyard will have a fire pit and grill for its residents. The property will also provide free Wi-Fi and internet, bike storage and on-site parking.

Each residential unit at The Edge is apartment-styled, fully furnished with private bathrooms and bedrooms, in-unit side-by-side washer/dryers, kitchen with granite counters and full appliances, large walk-in closets, high speed internet, cable and flat screen TV. Students will enjoy 24/7 resident services, roommate matching, and individual, by-the-bed leases.
