Nearly 900 affordable homes are set to be built over three separate sites in Brownsville, Brooklyn, the city’s Department of Housing Preservation and Development announced on Thursday, July 26, 2018. The first of the three developments, known as the Brownsville Arts Center and Apartments (BACA), will bring 230 affordable apartments to the neighborhood as well as a black box theater, a music school, a performing arts school, and a media lab.
