Gilbane Building Company Welcomes Mike Dishaw as Midwest Division Controller

Mike will be a pivotal leader for our team, overseeing accounting operations in Ohio, Western Pennsylvania, and Michigan.

Pittsburgh, PA – March 25, 2024 – Gilbane Building Company, a leading builder in the Midwest, is excited to welcome Mike Dishaw as Midwest Division controller, based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. In this pivotal role, Mike orchestrates and oversees the day-to-day functions of the finance and accounting teams in Ohio, Western Pennsylvania, and Michigan. Mike partners with local leadership to establish sales/gross profit, overhead, and net income goals and ensures those goals are successfully met.

Before joining Gilbane, Mike served as president and chief executive officer at S&B Construction, responsible for all US construction operations in Texas, North Dakota, Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Virginia. He transitioned from chief financial officer to chief executive officer in 2020, post-acquisition, to lead integration and drive the company’s transformation to support their strategy to execute large complex infrastructure projects. In addition, he led the successful commercial and financial close for the $1.2 billion P3 Fargo Diversion project and the $1.5 billion Pennsylvania Major Bridges project.

Mike began his career with Barton Malow, serving in several financial roles, including chief financial officer. With over 38 years of experience in the construction industry, Mike has a proven track record of providing leadership and vision in challenging environments. He has extensive experience collaborating with all levels of operations to enhance strategies that increase bottom-line growth through process improvements and business analytics.

Mike has been an active member of the Construction Financial Management Association for over 20 years, serving as chapter president for both the Detroit and Greater Pittsburgh chapters. In addition, Mike is active and passionate about supporting the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

Mike earned a Master of Science in Finance from Walsh College and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Michigan Technological University.
