Hutchins to Lead the Company’s Global Sales and Marketing Strategies in his New Role as Executive Vice President

width=Providence, RI –June 27, 2019 – As part of its global growth and planned succession, Gilbane Building Company is pleased to announce that Ryan E. Hutchins has been promoted to executive vice president.  He succeeds Dennis Cornick who will take on special initiatives until his retirement at the end of 2019.

Since joining Gilbane in 1997, Hutchins has held key operational and sales management roles, most recently as senior vice president of Gilbane’s New England division. Throughout his career, he has raised the bar for quality in construction standards, bridged labor relations, championed minority participation and workforce strategies, initiated new services and was named as one of the youngest senior vice presidents in the company’s history. He has also been recognized for his industry and civic involvement that has included roles such as Children’s Trust Board Chair, Benjamin Franklin Institute of Technology Board Chair, Board Member of the New England Council and Board Member of the Boston Police Activities League. He serves as the executive sponsor for Gilbane’s employee resource group, Gilbane Young Professionals.

“Ryan’s determination, visionary leadership, and entrepreneurial spirit have all contributed to his success in exceeding expectations of our employees, clients and the communities in which we work in,” said Michael McKelvy, president and CEO of Gilbane Building Company. “As we continue to expand globally, Ryan’s innovative concepts and commitment to our core values will help us to leverage Gilbane’s one-company strengths to deliver the best solutions to our clients.”

Hutchins earned a BS in Construction Management from Wentworth Institute of Technology and a MBA in Business Administration from Babson College. He also holds a MA Supervisors License and OSHA 30-Hour Certification. He resides with his wife and four children in Wellesley, Massachusetts.

Hutchins succeeds Dennis Cornick, who will retire at the end of 2019.  During his almost 30 years at Gilbane, Cornick was responsible for evolving one of the strongest client development programs in the industry including the creation of a shared services model for global sales and marketing combined with a game-changing doer seller program.  He was instrumental in deploying a one-company approach to sales and consistent representation of the Gilbane brand in the marketplace.  His efforts have resulted in multiple consecutive years of business growth and record-breaking sales results.

“Dennis and Ryan have been working on a smooth leadership transition since early 2019,” said McKelvy.  “Dennis has been a driving force in Gilbane’s success over the years with a constant focus on sales, training and client satisfaction.  His dedication to his staff, the Gilbane family and excellence in service is unmatched.”

Steve Duvel succeeds Ryan Hutchins as senior vice president for the growing New England division. Duvel is a 26-year industry veteran, who now oversees operational, sales and administrative functions of the division, which encompasses approximately 365 staff in offices located in Boston, MA; Providence, RI; Glastonbury, CT; Stamford, CT; and Merrimack, NH.

“The New England market represents exceptional growth opportunities for Gilbane and our technology-driven, Lean approach to construction management,” said Ryan Hutchins, executive vice president. “Under Steve’s proven leadership, we look forward to accelerating our growth trajectory and continuing our work on prominent projects that are changing the face of New England and beyond.”
