Gilbane Building Company Announces Scott Orr to Lead Texas Business Unit
Houston, TX – June 27, 2019 – Gilbane Building Company announces the promotion of Scott Orr to senior vice president, Texas business unit leader. With more than 25 years of experience, Orr will be responsible for operational, sales and administrative functions across Texas.
Orr succeeds Dan Gilbane, a member of the fifth generation of the Gilbane family, who will assume leadership of companywide strategic initiatives. Today’s announcement is part of a long-term strategic vision to expand Gilbane’s client advocacy commitment and ensure the continuance of its culture and core values.
Orr brings a wealth of industry experience in a broad range of building types and methods. His in-depth understanding of technical construction processes has made him a leading subject matter expert for complex projects. In his new role, Orr will advance Gilbane’s deep-rooted tradition of safety, service and long-standing relationships with both clients and employees. He has been working with local leaders for the past two years helping to deliver some of the region’s most complex and prominent projects including Hines (Block 58) Texas Tower, Gables Republic Square, Houston ISD Lamar High School, Alamo Colleges District, MD Anderson Proton Therapy Center and State House Development Mixed-Use Facility.
Orr joined Gilbane in 2011 in Cleveland, Ohio, leading construction projects for corporate, healthcare, hospitality, higher education and federal clients. Throughout his career he has served in several key operations and management positions, most recently as the Cleveland business unit leader. Orr quickly progressed through the ranks because of his operational excellence in several complex projects including the Ernst & Young Office Tower and Aloft Hotel, Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company Global Headquarters and The Hard Rock Rocksino Northfield Park, Cleveland Clinic Roseann Park Family Tower and multiple projects at Kent State University. Under his leadership, the Cleveland office consistently ranked as a top commercial contractor by Crain’s Cleveland Business.
“Scott’s extensive operational excellence across diverse markets coupled with his strength to implement new approaches have helped him to excel in the industry. Under his leadership, our Texas operations are well positioned for continued success,” said Michael McKelvy, president and CEO of Gilbane Building Company. “Our succession planning leverages the strength of our Texas leadership team and Gilbane’s commitment to strategic initiatives as we continue to grow the company in alignment with our vision.”
Orr holds a bachelor’s degree in construction engineering and management from Purdue University and was recognized as one of Crain’s Cleveland Business “Top 40 Under 40” honorees for his professional success and civic contributions. He resides in The Woodlands, TX with his wife and their three children, who attend Conroe ISD schools and are active in several athletic programs.
