Gilbane awarded Mount Carmel West Transformation Project
In March 2015, Mount Carmel unveiled plans to redefine healthcare in Central Ohio. Included within the outlined projects were the relocation of inpatient services from Mount Carmel West to Mount Carmel Grove City, and the subsequent transformation of the Mount Carmel West campus into a vibrant health and education campus. The future Mount Carmel West campus will focus on primary, urgent and emergency care. The transformation of the campus will provide needed room for growth for the Mount Carmel College of Nursing, one of Ohio’s largest baccalaureate nursing programs, while serving as the centerpiece of a shared revitalization effort for a stronger, healthier and more sustainable neighborhood.
Scope of the Mount Carmel West Transformation project includes the demolition of the 700,000 SF inpatient hospital, realignment of the building services and utilities, enclosure of the remaining buildings, and creation of independent mechanical systems for the College of Nursing.
