The Iron
Setting a new standard for urban growth with nearly 300 mixed-income units plus retail and community space
Gilbane Development Company and Xenolith Partners, as joint venture developer partners, along with New Haven-based Newman Architects are spearheading a dynamic development project that will bring nearly 300 units of high-quality mixed-income rental housing and over 15,000 SF of retail and community facility space to the heart of downtown New Haven, CT.
Located at George and State Street, this ambitious initiative, known as “The Iron”, is being developed in partnership with the City of New Haven to address the growing housing demand in Connecticut. The Iron will feature 279 housing units, including 70 affordable units, significantly contributing to the state’s need for approximately 90,000 new housing units. In addition to residential spaces, the development will include 3,700 SF of retail space, enhancing the local economy and providing new opportunities for businesses to thrive in the area.
Community outreach will be a cornerstone of the development process, with efforts focused on gathering valuable feedback from residents to ensure that the project meets the needs and aspirations of the local community.
The Gilbane Development, Xenolith, and Newman Architects team is committed to collaborating with the City of New Haven to refine and advance the project’s design.
