Prince George’s Stadium Improvements

Stadium modernizations upgrade player development facilities, improve stadium experience

To comply with the new Professional Development League (PDL) Standards adopted by Minor League Baseball, the Maryland Stadium Authority (MSA) sought a design-builder to manage the design and construction of the improvements to Prince George’s Stadium, which is home to the Bowie Baysox, selecting Gilbane in association with WarrenBuilds (Gilbane – WarrenBuilds) to provide design-build services.

Project Overview

  • Gilbane – WarrenBuilds is working with MSA and our design partner, EwingCole, to create additional weight room space and training space, locker rooms to accommodate up to 32 players, female changing rooms for either umpire or coaching staff professionals, team commissary for both home and visiting teams, as well as increase the number of indoor or outdoor hitting tunnels
  • Developed conceptual plan options that analyzed the most expeditious and cost-effective phasing strategy to meet PDL Standards
  • New batting tunnels will be constructed to support player development
  • Fast track design to enable early release of bid packages, which will expedite construction and facilitate procurement of long lead construction materials
  • Concurrently, Gilbane is also providing design-build services for the renovation of Arthur W. Perdue Stadium in Salisbury, Maryland

“The improvements that are going to be funded are going to upgrade both the players’ experience and the fans’ experience at the Baysox stadium.”
