Prince George’s Community College Marlboro Hall
Repositioned aging academic building create spaces to inspire and cultivate learning
Gilbane, in association with WarrenBuilds, is providing construction manager services for the expansion and comprehensive renovation of Marlboro Hall. Originally built in 1975, the building is located on Prince George’s Community College’s expanding Largo, Maryland campus. The existing 135,000 SF, three-story Marlboro Hall will be gutted to its structural steel frame. A new four-level, 100,000 SF expansion will be added to the building’s south elevation, directly affronting the campus’ main loop road and expansive parking lot.
Project Overview
- The newly repositioned building will support a variety of academic programs, including art, industrial arts, paint shop, 3D printing, math and computer sciences, political and social sciences and business
- Renovations will provide high-tech classrooms and more efficient electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and technology systems, along with a new roof
- The project will also ensure that the facility is accessible and ADA compliant
- The building exterior will be an envelope of glass, masonry, and metal panels
- The project is targeting LEED Silver certification
“Future students and community members for generations will benefit from the renovations because the new Marlboro Hall will support student instructional space as well as space for public engagement.”
