NYCEDC Orchard Beach Pavilion Reconstruction
Restoration of landmarked Pavilion at Orchard Beach, The Riviera of New York
Gilbane is providing construction management services to restore this historic 1936 Bronx landmark. This project is the first step in the city’s efforts to help restore an iconic location to its former function and glory. The services include structural demolition, reconstruction of concrete columns, reconstruction of roof slabs, restoration and preservation of approximately 1,200 pieces of existing blue stone pavers throughout the lower quadrant and promenade, and updates to outdated MEP systems. Rehabilitated areas include structural repairs, façade restoration, and ADA-compliant ramps.
Project Overview
- The project is targeting LEED Silver Certification
- The project features restoration and preservation of elements, including bluestone pavers, terracotta, terrazzo, and 2,162 new and existing pieces of limestone
- All work is being completed on a highly active public park and beach
“Once complete, the Pavilion will feature a wide range of amenities for residents and visitors alike and expand access to the beach for all members of the community. We can’t wait to cut the ribbon on this project, and we thank all of our partners on this project for helping to make this restoration a reality.”
