Inova Fairfax’s emergency department expands adult and pediatric services
As the construction manager, Gilbane was brought in early on to support Inova Fairfax with budgeting, scheduling, and phasing input needed for the emergency department expansion on the Inova Fairfax campus. The first phase of the project included a 72,000 SF emergency department, which increased the campus’s capacity by 64 beds. The next phase will include an additional 82 adult patient beds.
Project Overview
- The first floor of the existing professional services building was demolished to make space for the new emergency department
- The new emergency department includes approximately 64 adult and pediatric treatment bays, imaging suites, procedure rooms, patient support spaces, team stations/staff offices, and a new adult emPATH unit for behavioral healthcare patients
- The first floor of the existing building was expanded to include a new pediatric drop-off area
Gilbane’s Transition Planning & Management group (TPM) was selected to provide comprehensive transition planning and timeline development, operational readiness planning, workgroup facilitation, end-user orientation and training, and facility readiness planning with onsite activation/occupancy management.
