Aging facility reimagined into first-class hospital
Gilbane and Perkins+Will worked collaboratively with the HCA team to deliver a complete interior renovation of an existing hospital in the heart of the Texas Medical Center. The building received substantial upgrades throughout, renovating 12 different departments. Construction occurred during typical work hours while the hospital remained fully operational.
Project Overview
- Six new air handling units were installed, allowing the hospital to run on generators for 72 hours
- A new Central Sterile Department, housed in the basement level, required cutting into a new elevator to connect the basement sterile department to the second-floor ORs
- 100 new patient beds were added throughout the hospital
