Construction of new headquarters begins long-planned revitalization of the Minnesota/Benning Corridor

Gilbane provided construction management services for the Washington, DC Department of General Services (DGS) Headquarters project, which consists of a new six-story, 258,000 SF building with associated sitework. The project is part of the Northeast Heights Development, a 1,500,000 SF multi-phase, residential, retail, and office development in Ward 7 of Washington, DC. The DGS Headquarters building is the first government office building to open utilizing Mayor Bowser’s East of the River leasing strategy.

Project Overview

The façade of the new headquarters features pre-cast metal panels and punched windows
The building amenities include a double-height entrance lobby, conference space, and a tenant-only fitness center
This project achieved LEED Silver and included bioretention ponds for stormwater management and an occupiable green roof
