CalArts A-Block Renovation

Restoring major section of CalArts, School of Film/Video

Gilbane provided construction management services to renovate the A-Block at the California Institute of the Arts (CalArts). This 26,700 SF renovation restored a major section of the institution, housing its well-known School of Film/Video, which suffered severe water damage in June 2021. CalArts took the opportunity to not only rebuild what it lost but to expand as well. CalArts was founded by Walt Disney and his brother Roy in 1961. Since then, CalArts has become artistically influential in Los Angeles and beyond.
