Historic Banneker Elementary School Undergoes Phased Renovation and Addition
Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) selected Gilbane Building Company for the phased addition and renovation of Banneker Elementary School due to past successful partnerships coupled with Gilbane’s historic preservation experience. The building and site hold historical significance with the community, and LCPS aims to preserve, restore, and renovate the exterior and interior footprint of the original building. The addition will encompass around 61,000 SF of classroom space, a multipurpose center, and other ancillary rooms. The addition will be multi-phased to keep the school operational throughout the school year, while the renovation will occur on an occupied campus.
