University of Nevada, Lawlor Chiller Replacement

Gilbane provided mechanical updates for the Lawlor Event Center

New upgrades to chilled water system improve reliability and capacity for the Lawlor Events Center

Gilbane provided lump sum general contractor services for the replacement of the chiller, cooling tower, and related systems at the Lawlor Event Center. This project also provided chilled water for the neighboring Legacy Hall. With this upgraded cooling system, Lawlor Event Center will be able to provide a modern air conditioning system for the sold-out crowds at Nevada Basketball games. The upgraded chiller also provides improved capacity for future growth. The new system boasts modern, energy-efficient controls and full BACnet remote accessibility.

The project involved the replacement of hundreds of feet of heavy steel water lines and the craning in of machinery, all during a highly-publicized Nevada Basketball season. Gilbane worked around the clock to meet schedule dates and stay out of the way of the Pack teams, TV coverage, and the Lawlor Events Center personnel.

The Gilbane Reno team enjoyed the chance to work in Lawlor Events Center, the home of Nevada Basketball. Go Pack!
