Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center

Much needed expansion takes place at Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center to make way for additional parking and new courtrooms.

reimagining justice in lawrenceville

Gilbane is providing construction management services for the expansion of the existing Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center (GJAC) in Lawrenceville, Georgia. The justice center is a combination of administration and courtrooms.

The project will be split into three phases.

  1. 1. Cooling tower
  2. 2. Parking garage
  3. 3. Courthouse addition

The cooling tower has a Hot-Dipped Galvanized Steel casing and will work to service the existing building as well as the new building.

The new 1,450-car, multi-level pre-cast parking garage will have enough room for more than 1,500 cars, up from just 840 in the existing deck. The parking garage will be connected to the new building by a security clearance lobby.

The courthouse addition will include a brand new 4-story 180,485 SF building to house court functions including courtrooms, judges’ chambers, jury deliberation rooms, a jury assembly room, detainee holding areas (central and those associated with courtrooms), a central security screening lobby, mechanical plant and shell space for future expansion.

The addition and parking garage will be constructed behind the existing building, which will remain in operation throughout construction.

Final completion is set for 2020.
