Bob Hope / Amelia Earhart Elementary School
Gilbane Team Will Build New School Construction Project in Okinawa, Japan
The U.S. Army District, Japan awarded Gilbane a $60 million project for construction of the new Bob Hope/Amelia Earhart Elementary School. The existing Amelia Earhart Intermediate and Bob Hope Primary Schools were both constructed in 1980 and did not meet 21st Century Education Facilities Specifications, as well as contained infrastructure that was outdated, failing, and in need of urgent repair and replacement.
The new school will consolidate facilities into a 194,692-SF two-story complex, which will be compliant with LEED and EPACT; provide new water/sewer, electrical, and mechanical utilities; improve associated roads, sidewalks, and parking; and meet AT/FP, low impact development, and environmental impact standards.
