Gilbane will bring entrepreneurial leadership and uphold family ownership values as a board director

 width=Providence, Rhode Island—June 22, 2020—Gilbane, Inc. today announced that William J. Gilbane III, fifth generation family member and former senior vice president of the New York division of Gilbane Building Company, has been elected to Gilbane, Inc.’s board of directors.

Mr. Gilbane will bring the leadership and knowledge he developed from growing one of the most dynamic divisions at Gilbane to his role on the board, while maintaining the company’s family ownership values, furthering its ‘people first’ culture, and continuing its commitment to lasting client relationships.

He began his career with Gilbane in 2003, working in multiple roles in the company that included projects located in Newark, N.J.; District of Columbia; and Brooklyn, N.Y.  As a senior vice president, Mr. Gilbane was responsible for sales, operations and client relations for Gilbane’s New York and New Jersey Division from 2012-2019.  During his tenure, the division experienced significant organic and acquisitive growth, expanded its geographic presence and increased market share in the high-rise residential, healthcare, cultural and commercial segments.  The New York City operation of Gilbane has been named “New York Contractor of the Year” by Engineering News Record and has repeatedly been recognized as one of the “Best Places to Work” in New York City by Crain’s New York Business.

A graduate of Brown University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science, Mr. Gilbane also has a Master of Science in Construction Management from New York University.  He serves on the boards of Housing Works, the Real Estate Board of New York, New York Building Congress and is a Trustee for the Citizens Budget Commission and a member of the Young Presidents Organization. In addition, he has served on the Everson Museum of Art, Construction Management Association of America and ACE Mentor of New York Boards.
