New building creates state-of-the-art learning environment for hospitality and culinary arts programs

 width=Columbus, Ohio – August 14, 2019 – Gilbane Building Company is pleased to announce the successful completion of the new School of Hospitality Management and Culinary Arts facility at Columbus State Community College (CSCC). On Monday, August 12, officials from CSCC, Gilbane Building Company, DesignGroup and distinguished guests came together to celebrate the official dedication of the new state-of-the-art facility, followed by CSCC’s annual culinary showcase “Taste of the Future” on August 13th to officially celebrate the opening of the new facility.

Mitchell Hall, named after Columbus native and renowned restaurant owner Cameron Mitchell, spans over 80,000 SF and includes seven, state-of-the-art teaching kitchens; a full service, student run bakery and restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating for 115; a 400+ seat banquet conference center with on-site catering; a 100-seat culinary theatre; multi-purpose academic classrooms; faculty offices and a boardroom. This signature building is located in the heart of downtown Columbus and will act as a front door to Columbus State’s campus. width=

Gilbane Building Company served as construction manager on this $34.5 million project for CSCC’s culinary arts program, which is ranked as one of the top 20 culinary programs in the United States. This new facility will allow CSCC to more than double the enrollment in the program.
