President and CEO Michael McKelvy and Fifth-Generation Gilbane Family Member & EVP Daniel M. Gilbane Strategically Locating in Boston Office; Michael O’Brien Promoted to Senior Vice President, Massachusetts Business Unit Leader

Boston, MA —Gilbane Building Company today announced key leadership moves to position the company for growth in the Boston region with President and CEO Michael McKelvy and Daniel M. Gilbane strategically locating to Gilbane’s Boston office. The company, which is the largest construction management firm headquartered in New England, has been building in Boston since 1946.

As part of its plans to bolster its existing presence in the area, the company also announced the promotions of Daniel M. Gilbane to Executive Vice President and Michael O’Brien to Senior Vice President, Massachusetts Business Unit Leader. These promotions also underscore the increased executive leadership in Boston which includes Ryan E. Hutchins, Executive Vice President, who is already located there.

Dan Gilbane will continue to lead the company’s strategic initiatives by providing oversight for several growing entities including a disaster response and reconstruction services firm (GRS Disaster Response) and a subsidiary providing equipment, jobsite safety, general labor, carpentry and final cleaning services. In addition to these focus areas, Dan has direct involvement with Gilbane’s acquisition strategy, and he is the executive sponsor for Gilbane’s Hispanic and LatinX Employee Resource Group, HOLA@.

In his previous role, Dan, a fifth-generation Gilbane family member, successfully led sales, marketing, operations, and strategy for Gilbane’s Southwest division. His focus on providing quality services and workmanship promoted strong client relationships, customer satisfaction and new business growth. Dan is also an active community member. During his tenure on the board of the United Way of Greater Houston, he helped lead an effort that resulted in $70 million raised for its annual campaign.

Mike O’Brien oversees all operations and personnel in Massachusetts, with a focus on customer satisfaction, driving innovation and operational excellence, and training and staff development. Under his leadership, Gilbane’s Massachusetts market share has grown to historic heights, achieving unprecedented sales goals. Mike has been involved with some of Gilbane’s largest projects in the Commonwealth such as Alnylam Pharmaceuticals New Biopharmaceutical Manufacturing Facility in Norton, the Hobbs Brook 225 Wyman office/lab development in Waltham and the recently completed new Minuteman Regional Vocational Technical High School in Lexington.
