Gilbane Building Company Celebrates “Topping-Off” at Barryknoll Project

Project will allow residents to experience Memorial City area in a walkable urban environment

Houston, Texas – January 31, 2018 – Gilbane Building Company, a national leader in construction management, was happy to celebrate a major milestone at the site of the Barryknoll multi-family apartment complex project in Houston, TX.  The topping off ceremony was attended by representatives from MetroNational, Slate Real Estate Partners, and by Gilbane employees and several key contractors. The project team was treated to a luncheon to celebrate the milestone and even had a mariachi band provide entertainment as part of the celebration!

“The crews on this project have worked very hard through the summer and several weather events, including Hurricane Harvey.  They are truly the folks that make these projects successful,” said John Abbott, Project Executive with Gilbane Building Company.

Gilbane is providing construction management at-risk services for the construction of MetroNational’s new eight story, 670,000 SF multi-family luxury apartment complex. This facility will offer 333 luxury apartment units in one to three bedroom layouts, 570 parking spaces, an eighth floor amenity deck with a pool, bar facilities, cabanas, catering kitchen, sitting areas and a dog park.  The entry level will include luxury common space, a fitness center, VIP parking spaces, bicycle maintenance and storage, the leasing center, walk up apartments, and a landscaped interior courtyard.  The complex is located in the highly desirable Memorial City area of Houston, adjacent to the Memorial City Mall and numerous restaurants and retail establishments.

Gilbane Building Company makes significant progress on signature Icon project in Buckhead

Construction of the 35-story residential tower is underway, featuring 365 units as well as retail and restaurant space

Atlanta, Georgia – December 2017 – Gilbane Building Company, recognized as an industry leader that delivers innovative building solutions – from state-of-the-art sustainable buildings to the latest applications in construction methods and technology is serving as construction manager for Related Group’s signature Icon residential tower project.

Located in the Buckhead neighborhood of Atlanta, the 750,000-square-foot residential tower will offer 365 units ranging from studios to three bedrooms, 30,000 square feet of retail/restaurant space, a pool on the eighth floor, indoor and outdoor rooftop amenity spaces, and an 11-level parking garage. Standing 35 stories high it will be the tallest residential building in the neighborhood with direct access to MARTA and just blocks from two of the city’s premier shopping malls.

“Icon’s location is one of the project’s biggest challenges – it’s located on Peachtree Road and surrounded on all sides. So the focus early on was to coordinate with our neighbors, the Mandarin Oriental hotel, Maggiano’s restaurant, and Skyhouse apartments, to make sure we considered noise levels and traffic for their residents and customers,” said Mark LeBlanc, Senior Project Executive for Gilbane Building Company, “Building on any site is always about being a good neighbor.”

The project is being designed by Smallwood Reynolds Stewart Stewart and is targeting completion in June 2019. Gilbane Celebrates “Topping Out” at 1000 Park Avenue

Topping Out” at 1000 Park Avenue Atlanta, Georgia – December 1 2017 – Gilbane celebrated a major milestone at the 1000 Park Avenue project in Atlanta, Georgia. The topping out ceremony was attended by representatives from the Wood Partners, Reese Vanderbilt & Associates, and Gilbane. The event took place on Level 2 of the parking garage with nearly 500 people in attendance who were treated to a barbeque lunch. Senior General Superintendent Dennis Evans addressed the attendees, presented several team members with Excellence Awards, and raffled off more than 175 prizes, including five TVs and an extra-large Big Green Egg.

The 27-story residential tower features a mix of one-, two-, and three-bedroom units in the heart of Atlanta’s Buckhead neighborhood. The tower houses 267 luxury units, a three-story parking deck and community amenities such as a private motor court for guest and resident access, private outdoor terrace and pool deck, fitness center, residential club and a residential Sky Lounge on the 27th floor with a covered outdoor terrace overlooking downtown Atlanta.

Gilbane Reaches Successful Milestone at Azure Phase II Condominiums

The team along with more than 250 trade workers celebrated the topping out of the luxury condominium project located on the distinguished intracoastal waterway of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. 

Palm Beach, Florida – August 2017 – Gilbane Building Company, a national leader in construction management, celebrated the topping out of the Azure Condominium Phase II project. The project, an ultra-luxury condominium involved construction of 55 private-entry units in the main five-story building, which also includes covered parking as well as resident common areas on the ground floor with its own resident lobby and concierge desk.

Located on the intracoastal waterway with a semi-private yacht marina, the highly anticipated luxury condominium project is the second phase for developer Frankel Development. The two buildings are situated on 14 acres of waterfront property in Palm Beach Gardens.

Tom Frankel, president of Frankel Development, spoke to the crowd of workers at the jobsite, sharing his excitement for the success of the project and the construction progress made by the team. Mike Bird, senior project executive and area manager for Gilbane Building Company also congratulated the workers on their outstanding efforts and momentum of the project reaching this key milestone. More than 250 workers were on site for the barbecue lunch and raffle prize.

“Our teams have worked very hard to reach this milestone,” said Mike Bird. “This event recognizes the entire project team for the tremendous effort and gives us the opportunity to thank them for being part of building this magnificent project.”

The event, facilitated by Anthony Robison, project executive and active project manager on site, noted “We are very thankful for all the hard work put into this project by our trade partners to this point.  With some 330 days worked without a loss time accident, we are very proud of this team and their accomplishments.”

The project, designed by Glidden + Spina, is anticipated to complete summer of 2018.

To power efficiency on Lean construction, Gilbane has invested in technology accelerators that were utilized to support the execution of this project and ensure aggressive schedule deadlines were achieved during record-breaking severe winter weather.

Gilbane provided construction management services for the 105,000 square foot Residential Tower at 270 Third Street, in Kendall Square. The new nine-story tower encompasses 91-units and various amenities, including a pet spa, bicycle storage, retail and restaurant space with outdoor patio, and roof deck.

The site was extremely tight and logistically challenging.  The new tower was constructed to the sidewalks on three sides and is 30 feet from the adjacent building on the fourth side. Gilbane also managed the upgrade to the City’s surrounding infrastructure to support this new residential tower.

The residential tower is connected via an underground tunnel to the adjacent Alexandria Real Estate Equities 75-125 Third Street and includes an underground garage constructed by Gilbane.

The new urban development offers 125 units of high-end residential apartments comprising of one-, two- and three-bedroom floor plans and town home options. The mixed-use project includes 14,000 square feet of on-site, street-level retail, 7,000 square feet of office space and a 385-space concrete parking garage.
