Thomas (TJ) Lyons, CSP OHST CRIS, construction safety manager at Gilbane, will present at the at the 2015 Ohio Construction Conference.
For several years, the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) has encouraged the prevention of incidents and injuries by smarter design both of the construction site and the facility being built. Lyons, will describe the concept of “Prevention through Design” (PtD) and provides examples of why this might be the biggest advance in hazard elimination since the seat belt. Attendees will learn how PtD can move contractors from management of hazards to hazard elimination – including lifetime hazards for building owners and users.
With more than 300 industry leaders expected, the Conference will be held on Thursday, March 19 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. at The Ohio Union on the campus of The Ohio State University.
The OCC serves the needs of the commercial construction industry as the premier, professional educational conference in the Midwest. Gathering construction stakeholders – owners, facility managers, design professionals, contractors and suppliers – the Conference encourages the exchange of information about regional and national initiatives, as well as best business practices.
