Edward T. Broderick 

President/CEO

Edward Broderick is the President and Chief Executive Officer at Gilbane Development Company, where he leads an all-executive development team and serves on the Board of Gilbane Inc. holding company and its investment and executive committees. Ed is responsible for the development and execution of Gilbane Development Company’s strategic plan as well as management of all aspects of the company and its activities, including new development opportunities, acquisitions, financings, and project leadership. Prior to being named CEO in 2018, Ed held the positions of VP of Operations, Executive Vice President, and President in the company. 

Ed, who celebrated 40 years of service in 2022, began his career as a management trainee with Gilbane Building Company as assistant superintendent for a 42-story high-rise project in Boston, MA. His 40 years of experience encompasses every sector of the building development and construction industries, from engineering and development to contracts and financial modeling. Ed combines experience with exceptional leadership, a demonstrated ability to adapt to changing markets, and consistently strong bottom-line results.

Under Ed’s supervision, the company has seen significant growth in its multifamily and mixed-use portfolio, with expansion into new markets, and innovative multifamily and affordable housing developments in Washington, DC and New York City. Ed specializes in collaborative pursuits that involve structuring transactions in the public and private sectors. His notable projects include the development of dynamic mixed-use community Madison Yards in Wisconsin, and the development of The Peninsula in New York which has transformed a youth detention center into a vibrant new community. Ed holds a Master of Business Administration degree in finance from Providence College, a Bachelor of Science degree from Manhattan College, and completed an advanced executive management program at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
